WoW...I got an award!

Little ole me with my little ole following...and I got an award!

Thank you Sandy for the award. I am completely blog-dumb and so I am not quite sure what to do with my award...considering I truly have 6 people following me! :) But I have always wanted to give an acceptance speech. it goes.

"Thank you to my family, who have stood by me even when they probably were so embarrassed they wanted to run the other way. Thank you to my sweet children and husband who put up with me everyday. Thank you to my friends who have had my back more times than I would want to know. And last, but certainly not least, I would like to thank my Lord and Savior. I have been blessed by You beyond measure!"

I have to say...I am not happy with my acceptance speech...I might should work on that before the Academy calls...I did not realize how hard it is to write a good acceptance speech. :)

Say thanks and give a link to the presenter of the award.
Share "10 Honest Things" about myself.
Present the award to 7 others whose Blogs I find brilliant in content and/or design, or those who have encouraged me.
Tell those 7 people they've been awarded Honest Scrap and inform them of these guidelines in receiving.

(I don't know if I have 7 people I can pass this on to....:) )

Here it goes!

1. I wish I had an RV and did not have the need to work and could travel all over the United States. There is so much of our wonderful country I have not seen (or don't remember from when I was 3) and I want to go with my children! (And, no, I have not seen the movie RV...don't ruin it for me! ) :)

2. I would love to visit Australia.

3. I love to laugh and to watch other people REALLY laugh!

4. I have great ideas and then struggle to follow through with them.

5. I wish my whole family lived in the same town. Living in this small town and listening to people talk about Sunday lunch with family, or seeing grandparents at every football/basketball/baseball game...makes me wish my kids could see their cousins and grandparents more than a couple of times a year.

6. I hate to clean, but if I have to do it, I want the house to be empty...just me, the mop and broom and my ipod.

7. I sometimes text at work.

8. I bought a pair of cowboy boots this year.

9. I cry easily, but try to act tough.

10. I have the desire to write a fictional book, but the fear of failure has held me back.

1. Sarah (this will make her HAVE to blog)

2. Katie

3. Paige (not me)

4. Kari

Ok...I feel the need to stop here because I don't feel like I could ask anymore total strangers (with the exception of Sarah) to accept an award from me! LOL!!!!!

But that list up there....right above my list of seven four names...was kind of hard to write. Honesty is yall be kind! Make sure to make me laugh WITH you if make comments! :)

Not Me Monday

Welcome to Not Me! Monday! This blog carnival was created by MckMama. You can head over to her blog to read what she and everyone else have not been doing this week.

I did not eat cupcakes for breakfast this week EVERYDAY!!!! Not me. I would never do that! That is totally UNhealthy and full of gluton and fat and would cause more unwanted pounds to creep on...I would never be so reckless and out of control.

I did not ask my husband to empty the dishwasher for me since I had both kids at one of the kids' football practices and he was home alone. I did not come home to find that my one wish had not been granted. I did not refuse to do the task myself for 3 days in hopes of making a point. I did not make my point (really, I didn't)! I did not end up emptying it myself only to load it up again with all that had accumulated in the sink!

I did not make my oldest child walk in the cake walk at the Fall Festival Friday night. I did not jump and shout for joy when his number was called. I did not then make him let me choose what cake we would take. I had not been plotting this scheme ever since I saw this cake arrive in my classroom. I wouldn't do such a know...cake...gluton...unwanted pounds! Not Me!

I did not listen to my youngest child talk to a toy she had gotten at the "Festibal". I did not make her leave it in the car while we attended Will's last football game. She did not run back to the car quickly after the game and begin talking to this toy, saying this, "Hey girl. Did you miss me? I know...that WAS a really long time wasn't it? I'm sorry. THAT lady would not let you come into the football game. But that was the last game, so we should be ok, now." She would never call me THAT lady and never to a toy that she has not looked at twice since then! Never. My child loves me too much to say things like that!

Will's football team did NOT win their last football game 32-0!!!! It was not supposed to be the hardest game all season against a really good team! We were not SO excited! :)

Just for one final laugh....this is NOT the map we were supposed to follow to the pumpkin patch two weeks ago. We would NOT have totally gotten lost had it not been rained out because this map is VERY easy to follow.
What have you not been doing this week?

Blog Harvest Party

Lynette Kraft is having a Blog Harvest Party this week. I so enjoy her parties :o) She put some questions together for all of us to answer to get to know each other better.

1. What is your favorite thing to snack on while you're blogging?
Chips, pretzels, water...unless there is birthday cake in the house...

2. What is one thing you wouldn't want to live without?
Petty-sound machine...can't sleep without my son's on each night.

3. Beach, Mountains or Farm? Where would you live if you had a choice?
BEACH!!!! With a house in the mountains on a farm. Now, I don't want to WORK the farm...just visit...but I love me some beach!
4. What's your least favorite chore/household duty?
They are all my least favorite. Mopping is the worst for me!

5. Who do people say you remind them of?
This is really embarrassing...when the whole Clinton/Lewinsky thing happened....I was told I look like Monica. Isn't that just what every girl wants to be told...I had to resist the urge to go buy a beret and a navy blue dress.

More recently...Khloe Kardashian...again...not so much the compliment but more because she is known as "the fat sister"....

Around town here there is a girl who sings at church who is jam up good and the little old ladies in the church always tell me I did a great job after she sings. I just smile and say thank you!

6. Prefer parties and socializing or staying at home with the fam?
Both...I am a social butterfly. I love to be home during the week but on the weekends, I can't keep an opening on my social calendar...haha! Just kidding. I do love to socialize (read: "talk") so a good combo of both is great for me.

7. What's your all time favorite movie?
Hope Floats. Totally cheesy but I love it!

8. Do you sleep in your make up or remove it like a good girl every night?
Kari is going to be so disappointed in me....but I almost NEVER take my makeup off at night. I think tonight I will...just because I know better for won't last though.

9. Do you have a hidden talent or a deep desire to learn something that you've never had a chance to learn? What is it?
I wish I could sing...on key. I am not sure you can "learn" this, but I would if I could (or could afford it...I fear it would cost way too much to get me on key... :) )

10. What's one strange thing you're really good at?
I was stumped on this one so I asked my husband...he said I make a mean homemade macaroni and cheese. In his kindness, he also added eating my weight in Milk Duds. I have no comment.

11. What first attracted you to your spouse?
His quietness and his eyes and his smile.

12. What is something you love to smell?
The smell of a fire in the fireplace on a cold, winter day. MMMM....I can smell it now!

13. Tell something about you that you know irritates people.
I don't answer my phone very often. I know, for someone who is loves to socialize, that doesn't fit. But sometimes, I just don't want to talk. Mark calls it my Jeckle and Hyde personalities.

14. When you have extra money (HA!) what's the first thing you think to do with it?
HA! is right...we put it in the kids college funds or we save it for something extra to do with them (like Disney World...)...but that is so rare I may be remembering wrong!

15. Are you a silent laugher or a loud laugher? What makes you laugh the hardest?
I’m a loud laugher!!!! Loud and probably obnoxious. And when I get laughing hard, I cannot stop. And then I usually start crying and can't breathe. This could go on forever...

My kids make me laugh...watching them play Wii Resort Sports--the jet ski I cannot explain how hilarious it is...Funniest Videos...dumb movies I watch with my friend Julie.

16. Where is your favorite place to shop?
Ann Taylor. Ann Taylor Loft. Ann Taylor Outlet. I don't get to shop much, but that is my first choice for me...

17. What's one thing you'd do more often if you had more time?
Exercise. Read. Write.

18. Are you a big spender or frugal?
I can be both (though that statement makes my husband laugh out loud).

19. Who is your favorite character of all time (from a movie or book)? (Can't be real)
Temperance Brennan (from the TV show Bones).

20. Would you want to be famous?

Not Me!

Welcome to Not Me! Monday! This blog carnival was created by MckMama. You can head over to her blog to read what she and everyone else have not been doing this week.

I did not let my husband clean the house by himself on Wednesday while I sat with my feet up in the recliner. I would never act like that when we have company coming on Thursday...even if I did not KNOW we had company coming on Thursday. I would jump in there and help. I would NEVER just leave it all up to him...not me!

I did not THINK I had responded to the cake lady for Caroline's birthday cupcakes and then find out THE DAY BEFORE I was supposed to pick them up that I had, in fact, not responded at all. She was NOT totally gracious and did not go ahead and make them for my anyway. That so was not me...I always plan ahead and never wait til the last minute for anything.

I did not catch much grief from friends at work for not planning a big, elaborate party for Caroline. I did not defend myself by telling them she did not have friends her age to party with. I did not hear myself later in the week coming out of my daughter's mouth telling someone who asked her if she was having a party for her birthday say, "No. I don't have any friends." I would never let that happen! Not me!

I did not prompt my daughter to say "Japanese Steak House" when daddy asked her where she wanted to eat for her birthday. I would never be that sneaky or devious. Not me. (And, by the way, I did not totally enjoy my meal at the Japanese Steak House)!

I do NOT have a little girl, my baby, who is four years old. She did NOT turn four on Saturday. It cannot be possible. Four? Not me. My baby is still a baby! Ok, not really! :)

What have you NOT been doing this week?

Happy Birthday Baby Girl!!!

I cannot believe that my baby girl is FOUR YEARS OLD today!!!! It seems like just yesterday that she was this small:

She was precious wasn't she...? Actually she wasn't so precious at this time...colic hit hard here and she screamed ALL DAY LONG!!!! (except when she slept!)

She did have good taste in teams from VERY early on!

Always hammin' it up!

Precious on Easter Sunday!

More recently:
She sleeps well...once she FINALLY goes to sleep!!

A natural beach lover (thank goodness!)

I am amazed at how different my two children are...yet so much alike too. Caroline is my say anything child and she keeps us cracking up with some of the things that come out of her mouth! She is girly, and yet tough...doesn't want to take dance but wants to play football. She says what is on her mind WHEN it is on her mind. :) She loves dresses that twirl and spin and she loves pink. She is all about making whoever is holding her happy. She is precious and she is growing up way too fast!
Happy Birthday sweet girl!

I Want to be....

....The Dad!!!

Yeah...I know this might sound confusing...I am not unhappy as a woman, wife or mother. I am just tired. And run-down. And a little envious of the "fun-guy, plays with us all the time" image that "the dad" seems to have.

I feel the need for a little background...LOL. I am like every other woman out there who is married, married with children, or even single. I work. Everyday. Some of you may work in the home and I don't consider that any less work than those of us who work outside the home. I teach school. And before you go saying things like, "Wow, June, July and August must be great!"---I am not done until the second week of June and we start back on the first of while July is nice, June and August are not a break...and considering I get no comp time or vacation is not as glamorous as it might have appeared before you read this paragraph.

ANYWAY...I work outside of the home. So, those of you saying, "Oh, I don't want to be the dad, because I would not be able to stay home with my darlings.", try to see my side of the story. Here is a typical day, broken down by mom's day and dad's day.

Mom--wakes up, starts the coffee, takes a shower and gets ready for the day. She makes juice cups, breakfast (HOT breakfast more days than not), gets all bags into the car, takes rollers out of hair.

Mom--making sure the son is up and getting dressed and then she fixes to-go cup of coffee. Puts hot breakfast in car as well as coffee, wets son's head to lay down the rooster nest formed during the sleeping hours, tells son five times to put on shoes, gets daughter up and carries her half sleeping, very heavy body to the car and puts her in her seat and buckles her in.

Mom--pulls out of the driveway for 20 minute drive to sitter's house.

Mom--pulls into driveway of sitter, gets daughter out and carries her inside with her bag lovingly packed the night before with clothes, and blanket for the day. Peels daughter off of me and picks up sitters two kids for school. Back in car and headed to school.
Dad--still sleeping

Mom--pulls into parking lot at work/school. Unloads three kids, walks inside, signs in, and is bombarded immediately with many requests, questions, or copies needing to be made.
Dad--just starting to stir, but still in bed

Mom--students enter the classroom and day begins...20 minutes of homeroom and reading class begins.
Dad--either eating breakfast all alone at home in the quiet or in the shower. These two flip-flop every now and then.

Mom--Ten minutes into Reading class
Dad--just leaving for work although he is supposed to be there at 8am.

Mom--Teaching 23 students with very little adult interaction/conversation.
Dad-- Working--talking with co-workers, driving to check on water tanks, water meters, water customers, writing reports, responding to email (though not to mine), answering the phone, pondering lunch.

Mom-still teaching
Dad--lunch begins---out somewhere, with buddies from work

Mom--lunch in a cafeteria with 150 loud children
Dad--still lunching with buddies

Mom--back in class teaching again
Dad--still at lunch

Mom--making copies, making lesson plans, making phone calls to parents, possibly in a meeting
Dad--just back from lunch and possibly in a meeting

Mom--teaching a second math class
Dad--coming back to building from meeting

Mom--loading kids on buses and putting kids in cars
Dad--working quietly at desk on reports perhaps

Mom--frantically wrapping up meeting or lesson planning or paper grading---checks son out of afterschool care and heads toward the sitters house to get daughter
Dad--maybe a meeting, out checking on a customer complaint, talking with co-workers

Mom--picks up daughter and heads home wondering all the way what she will fix for dinner in the short time before we head back out to football practice.
Dad--usually back in the office beginning to wrap up his day.

Mom--home, browning ground beef for tacos while listening to son read book for the night...sign the folder, read the notes from the teacher, turns on Mamma Mia for daughter to watch(don't judge me) :)
Dad--winding down and chatting with boys from work

Mom--dinner on table and saying, "Hurry up and eat. We have to leave in 10 minutes for football and you don't have all those pads on yet."
Dad--still at work....

Mom--frantically freaking out trying to get son in uniform, toys for daughter to play with at practice, drinks and snacks for both EVEN THOUGH WE JUST ATE, and getting everyone loaded into the car while ignoring her ringing cell phone.

Mom--pulls into football practice, straps on shoulder pads and grabs paraphenalia for daughter to stay occupied
Dad--just calling to find out what time son has practice tonight and to inform that he (dad) probably won't make it to practice tonight.

Mom--leaves football practice and heads home to the cries of "I'm hungry"!!!! Usually moans, growls or possibly screams at this point and then heads to a drive thru or says, "Eat something when we get home!"
Dad--at home, eating tacos in peace, playing with the cat while sitting in the recliner

Mom--home...tired...dishes in sink
Dad--welcomed home like the prodigal son...screams and laughs and hugs and kisses given and he begins to play with children

Mom--finished with dishes and laundry goes to find children to put in shower/bath, pjs, brush teeth and then bed.
Dad--begging mom to let them play just a little while longer.

(insert cross words uttered by extremely tired mom to "play mate" dad)...

I am sure you get my point....I don't want to be the dad forever, just for a day...ok, maybe a week.

Make You Feel Good Blog Hop

The letter below was not written by me. It was written by my friend Donna after a morning of trying to put on a Slim and Lift.

Don't know what a Slim and Lift is? It is one of things that is supposed to suck you in and make you look 15-20 pounds was around before Spanx....and this is Donna's version of trying to put it on after I convinced her to go buy one! :)

I have listed instructions for putting on your Slim and Lift that were
obviously left out of the box and should not have been-

First- Cover all mirrors and remove all children who may be grossed out
by this picture. (Be sure the baby is fed as it may be 30 minutes
before you are done putting on your Slim and Lift)

Second- Stand near a secured piece of furniture ( Secure
means it should ideally put bolted to the wall!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) because once this
"rubber band" is around your ankles and not yet above your knees you
only have about 3 inches of balancing room between your 2 feet. These 3
inches are not enough to balance your "larger than desired body" and
you may fall head first onto the floor. This may take SEVERAL minutes
to get this rubber band above the knee so hold tightly to the secured
piece of furniture.

Third- Once the silhouette is above the knee - GOOD LUCK from here!
Even if you are as strong as an ox, you will need even more strength to
pull the elastic piece of cloth above your thighs (all while holding on to
your secured piece of furniture). This may require the upper body strength of
the Incredible Hulk!(if you don't have enough strength you may need to ask for
assistance at this point but this may take an additional 5 minutes
because your new assistant will need to laugh his or her butt off
first). At this time, the baby may need to be fed while your
new assistant laughs because you still have a lot to accomplish.

And Fourth- Once this nice silhouette is above your rear - you will need
still enough strength to continue up your belly. At this time you will also
need to be pushing your skin down into your “Slim and Lift” as you pull up.
(Now you see the reason for removing the small children from the room.)
You may need your assistant here as well.

Oh and I forgot - put your socks on before you put the Slim and Lift on
(which only adds to the nice picture for your assistant) because you
will have no upper body strength left with which to pull them up your leg.
There is also the added bonus that all the fat you pushed into your “Slim and
Lift” has nicely settled around your ankles!!! Bending over, or even slightly
bending at the waist is a waste of time…don’t try it-your body can’t move.
When you get into your car, be sure to recline your sit somewhat, since bending is
not an option!

Well . I have laughed all morning at myself about this garment and just
wanted to "share the joy". Hope you are having a good day. This Slim
and Lift actually does help my stomach but I am honestly not sure if
blood can circulate from my lower body to my upper body. My right hand
is tingling and I think it is because the blood pumping from my heart
can only shoot across to my right hand because the elastic piece of
material right below my heart is too tight to let the blood through. So
if I pass out - take my doctors this e-mail. I will talk to you later.

Sincerely and Skinny,

Happy Hopping-

Not Me Monday

My son did NOT ask me when my birthday was the other day. I did not answer him by giving just the month and day. He did not then ask me if I was born in the 19's. I did not say yes and ask him why. He most certainly did not say he just wanted to know if I had lived way back in the 19's! I did not crush really I didn't. But I might have threatened too! Way back in the 19's! Whatever!

My daughter did not push all of my buttons while home sick so that I did not have to tell her that as soon as the sun goes down, she has to go to bed. I did not tell her that the doctor said she had to go to bed when it got dark. She did not crawl into my bed at 7pm and tell everyone good night. I did not lay down beside her with a huge smile on my face. I would never do that...lie to my child about what a doctor says? Who does that? Not me!!!

I did not take a bath the other day instead of a shower because I just wanted to. I did not freak out my child enough to cause this conversation.
Her: "Mommies don’t take baths!"
Me: "Yes they do."
Her: NO they don’t. They take showers. (She walks away very mad)
Comes back and announces "That’s ok…you can take a bath in my bathtub if you want."
Me: "Ok…thanks." (since I was already in the bathtub and had no intention of leaving)
Her: "But, mommies don’t take baths…"
Me: "YES, they do."
Her: "Well, fine. Do you want a Barbie or something to play with?"
I did not laugh for five minutes over this.

I was not outside throwing the football with Will and I apparently do not throw a football well. Will did not look at me and say, “You need to practice with Daddy. And I don’t mean my daddy…I mean YOUR OWN daddy!” I did not stand there with my mouth hanging open in total shock. I would never be that inept at a sport...I am a total sporty mom! Total!

I did not call a friend who happens to work in the fiber optic section of the same company that Mark works in when our tvs kept turning off the other day and ask him for help. When he told me he thought my box was fried and he would bring me a new one in "a little while", I most certainly DID NOT start throwing laundry baskets into closets and shutting the doors and telling my sick child to help as much as she could with picking up a bit...I would never do that because my laundry is always put away as soon as I fold it and I hold my sick child and do NOT make her do housework!

I did not only work for a half day this week....a half day....due to a very sick child. I did NOT almost have many breakdowns over her fever/cough/unexplained illness and I did NOT shed buckets of tears over her. I do NOT have a recovering child now and I am NOT extremely grateful!

I did not laugh out loud Thursday night with my family when we went to Walgreens to buy Caroline a toy for being so brave when she had to get two shots at the doctor earlier in the week and my husband very honestly said, "I have never been to Walgreens to just shop..." and he walked away! :)

Caroline did not march into the room the other day and with her hands on her hips tell me that she wants circles in her hair. She did not then leave promptly with me struggling to understand what she was talking about (I did not finally figure out that she wants curly hair!).

I am most certainly NOT on my way to the pumpkin patch right now with some great friends. The weather channel did NOT call for 90% chance of rain...we do NOT have a picnic planned. I most certainly will NOT have great stories and hopefully pictures to share at the end of today!

What have you NOT been doing this week?

Fall Break = Vacation it is official...Fall Break has arrived. We, me and the kids that is, decided that since we had five days off we would do something wild and crazy...we would hit the road running...and do something memorable! Any guesses where we might have gone? Here is a clue...

I know what you are thinking...we went on a cruise...we went to the beach and this is our condo... we went on a deep sea fishing expedition...

Really, people. Do you not read all of my posts? Like the one right before this one...I have had a sick, sick child this week...and you think I would pack up and go on a cruise? Man...that actually sounds like a good idea..........

But no, we did not hit the high seas. We did even go to the beach like we were supposed to (and we don't stay in a condo when we do go to the beach...we stay at Grandma and Grandpa''s called....home...sigh....). We did not go to the beach and we were sad about this. Sad we didn't get to see our grandparents. Sad we didn't get to play with our cousins. Sad we didn't get exposed to the chicken pox...oh wait...we aren't sad about that! And we are hoping that Cousin E.D. is the ONLY one who gets them...unless Leslie WANTS her youngest to get which case we hope he gets them too. I am so off track....

Because we had to cancel our trip to the beach, I had to buy Will's affection to come up with something great for us to do to get Will's mind off the fact that we were still in our town for this FIVE DAY VACATION instead of at the beach (I am getting more and more depressed as I type and wouldn't you know is pouring rain right now...ugh!). But we had fun today...we really, really did!!!!

We went to "the big city" (which is not to be confused with the small town we live in) and we went to the Aquarium. We were pumped! We all got up early (me, only because Will and Caroline would not quit asking my sleeping body, "when do we leave...when do we leave?") and we were off. One minor stop for some cough syrup for Caroline and a Pumpkin Spice Latte for me...and we were on our way.

And here are some photos to prove how much fun we had!

Will said he hates the way Caroline's head takes up "his space".

These are worms...gross!

Jellies, dude!

I have no idea who those 3 are in the background...but they were there forever and I did not want to miss the moment of wonder from my kids.

We love each other...even if mom had to say "get close, like you like each other."

Just keep swimming...just keep swimming....

She would have stayed just like this if I had not made her move along....

Do you see Nemo? (Caroline kept asking where the babies were...the eggs...from the movie...oh nevermind)

I loved that this fish and several sting rays seemed to have fashion sense. Black and white combination. One looked like it had leopard print skin...very cool!

Caroline's face is priceless!

The reason for Caroline's shocked look. And Leslie...we hope it was the whale shark you wanted us to say hi to because if it was the Beluga Whale...he wasn't there...he must have helped the penguins dig out and is enjoying Madagascar or something....

I have no idea what kind of fish this is...Leigh Ann...any ideas? Oh who am I kidding...Leigh Ann doesn't read my blog! It is a good shot though, don't you think?

Of course, no fish were nearby when I took the shot...but they are cute kids, right?

Grandpa...this one is for you. Caroline did not believe they were real because they never moved. But it did start a firestorm of questions like, "You would never want your daughter and son to be eaten by an alligator would you?"

Horrible picture...I know. But this otter was SOOO cute and he kept dipping his head in the water, and the kids would bend down to see him, then he would pull it up and look at us through the glass and they would pop up! He plunged his head into the water, they drop down to their knees, up comes his head....this went on for what seemed like forever. It was probably only 30 seconds or so, but the kids were dying laughing and a huge crowd started to gather around us (glad you weren't here Leslie)!

It was not Grandma and Grandpa's but....A good time was had by all....I think.

Man Oh Man!

Oh how I am ready for this week to be over.

I am ready for this season of sickness to be over.

We have had quite the week. Quite the month actually.

Caroline has been sick...started with the croup. Stayed croupy for a while. I had a theory about why her croup kept coming had something to do with Chick-fil-A with a child who has peanut allergies (even though she was eating grilled cheese and nothing fried there....). The weeks we went, croup set in. The one week we did not, she was ok.

Had an ear infection in her left ear.

So then we went back to the doctor because the cough returned...he gave us breathing treatments for a month, an antibiotic and the hope that we would be better soon. We worked on it for a change. Cough horrible..especially at night. Then 6 days after that appointment, Caroline starts crying with her ear hurting...the other ear of course.

They called in antibiotic drops for the seems to help. She is still coughing...I am concerned...but hopeful that it will end soon. I mean, we haven't been to the Chick in over a week!!!! But that night...she starts to run a fever...101.5. Motrin given...fever down.

It does not return until Sunday night...102.4. Motrin...fever down...low grade fever next few doc and they say fever virus is going around...

Then, bingo...fever gone. I think...whew! We are over this...coughing persists though, so I call for cough we can all sleep! Then here comes her fever...99.6....then 101.4....then 102.3...then 103.6.

Yeah...pretty much...I freaked. Called doctor five minutes before they close and beg to be seen. I go...wait in waiting room with two people with swine flu...they were laughing about how they had it...uhhhmmm ok! Also in the waiting room, a baby with some kind of hive issue going on, what looked like an older brother with a younger brother who were laughing and cutting up and did not appear to be sick, but since they were on the "sick" side of the waiting room I can only assume one of the hysterically laughing brothers was ill and last but not least, a family attempting an intervention with a young girl who was refusing to eat for the last two days. I was captivated by the intervention and by the skill of the young girl to change the subject. I find myself praying for her constantly now...

We are called back to our 6. The North Carolina room (the doc has state maps hanging in the rooms and we got the NC room). I told Caroline that we were as good as healed... we were in the NC room. She didn't think it was funny. Actually at the time, neither did I.

We got her weighed and the nurse asks me what is going on. I start to tell her and say...I am sure it is there somewhere in her chart that I have called 3 times already this week. She nods her head and says, "Yeah, I saw the "Crazy Mom" sticker had been placed on your chart." She says all of this without cracking a smile. Then she half laughs and I am left to wonder...was she kidding or not?

So we go over the symptoms...the fever mainly...which of course is at 98.7 when I get there. The non-smiling nurse asks me if I want her to be tested for swine flu....well, I don't know. Should I? She won't give me any I choose yes. Let's test her just to rule it out.

Had I known what the test involved, I may have chosen no for her. She may never forgive me. The lab nurse, who also was not smiling (now, I feel that I should interrupt myself here and say that most of the time, the nurses there are GREAT! It could have been that I was the last patient and they were all waitin' on me)....ok...back to non-smiling lab nurse...she grabs a q-tip. But not just ANY q-tip...the BIGGEST q-tip I have EVER seen in my life. Then she proceeds to cram it up Caroline's left nostril...I believe far enough back there to actually touch her brain. The look on Caroline's face can only be described as complete and total shock and then she had the look of someone who had been violated. She looks at me and very emphatically says, "THAT HURT!" Sweetheart, my eyes are watering just watching!

That test came back negative. The doctor came in and he begins to poke and prod and search for meds that she is not allergic to...tells me she has a double ear infection, croup (now there's a shocker), and a virus of some sort. Love the specifics. Now, specifics are coming...just not on a diagnosis...more on the meds we would be given. Two anitbiotics, two breathing treatment meds, a steriod, allergy medicine, cough medicine and two shots (one of anitbiotic, one of steriods). Can we all just say, thank you for a prescription co-pay. They have started asking me if I want my usual when I walk into Walgreens now!

She screamed with the shots...and cried all the way home. She told Mark he had to carry her because her legs didn't work anymore...she'd been shot! LOL She milked it til I couldn't take it anymore and then finally walked to the bathroom to brush her teeth. She crawled in my bed and promptly fell asleep...which is where she is now. And it looks like her fever broke...she is a sweaty mess.

Praise the Lord. Please let it be over. Please!!!!

Not Me Monday

This blog was started by MckMama and it is the BEST kind of therapy for those of us who would never be able to find the time to actually go to therapy over this. If you struggle over the things you said or did this week that you would never tell anyone...this is the place for you!!!!!

I did not eat everything in sight this week for what appeared to me to be no apparent reason. I did not make excuses as to why I needed to eat and I did not tell my three year old child who has a nut allergy that some of the food I was eating had nuts in it (when it did not) because I did not want to share! Nope, not me. I would never do that!!!!

My three year old has not learned how to give HERSELF a breathing treatment. She has not taken it upon herself to do this all by herself so she "can help me out" around the house. She did not tell me the other day that I could go ahead and clean something while she took care of the "breafin' ma-treatment" (combination of breathing machine and breathing treatment).

I did not lose track of Will while tending to a sick little girl. I did not ask Mark where Will was when Mark came in from working in the hard. He did not start to panic and tell me he had not seen him outside for a while. I did not find him in his room doing this:

I did not laugh hard in the middle of the night (aka it was very dark) when my fever-running 3 year old rolled over and started rubbing my arm. When I opened my eyes, she most certainly did not say, "I just love you mom...and you look beautiful in your pink shirt."

I am not lacking much sleep right now and feeling a little weepy still. I would never get emotional over lack of sleep. Not me. I am so not an emotional person (hahahahahahahaha)!
What have you NOT been doing?

A Sporty Weekend

We have had football on the brain lately. We are either going to a football game, watching a football game or talking about a football game in this house. Now I am not talking professional football. I don't get into all the professional sports...sometimes, I think that paying athletes big bucks to play a sport they love makes them "play" it less and play "at" it more. Of course, this policy did not apply to my wonderful brother-in-law when he played professional basketball. Those games were ALWAYS very exciting for us to watch! :)

And I am also not talking about college football...though we have had some games to talk about around here lately on the college level. Mark's team is doing better as of late than mine...they had much to celebrate when they put the hurtin' on Ole Miss last weekend and they play the local high school team tomorrow so their record should stay in they are celebrating after beating the #4 team in the nation...whatever!
Now, my team, let me down last weekend. They traveled to Atlanta to take on the Yellow Jackets. They entered the stadium the #22 team in the nation....what? You are confused? Yes, I said they were the #22 team in the nation....but if you missed it that's ok...they aren't anymore. They left the stadium with their backsides having been handed to them on a silver platter. So disappointing....but it has been so long since we have been ranked that we are still on that high even though we show up nowhere in the Top 25 on ESPN!

No, I am talking more like this kind of football...the kind where five and six year olds tackle each other with the ease of....well, I could think of no example to support this...let's just say that after they get all their padding on and then get knocked down...the coaches have to help them up.
And tomorrow we have game at 9:30 am...I am so happy about that!!!!!!!!!!! :) We are 2-1 right now...hope that is 3-1 by 10:45 Saturday morning!
Then, tomorrow night we are heading to reunion basketball game at the local high school. We will not be seeing the likes of this at our reunion game:

That is whom my sister-in-law saw at the last reunion basketball game she went to and whom my nephew walked up to and rubbed his belly!!! LOL

NO, the game we are going to is going to make us laugh because many people I work with currently are going to be playing. I am taking my camera and cannot wait!!!!!!!!

So, I hope you are having a weekend full of everything you love...I do love sports, thank goodness...considering how much time I invest in it each week!
