Not Me Monday!

Welcome to Not Me! Monday! This blog carnival was created by MckMama. She is the mother to four and another on the way and she makes me laugh and truly contemplate some pretty deep issues. Head over to her blog to read what she and her husband and precious children have been up to this week.

School did not end on Friday! Summer has not officially started for the children. I do not have 3 more workdays. I am not so excited for my summer to begin. I did not have to give a speech on Thursday for our Awards Day. I was not SO nervous that my knees knocked, my hands shook and my lip quivered!

My parents did not email me Wednesday asking if they could come visit! I was not totally shocked and excited for their visit! My mom and I did not go shopping on Saturday and have a great time. Before church on Sunday, my mom most certainly did not lick her fingers and smooth down some of my dad's hair. She would never do that and if she did, I would certainly NEVER take a picture of it!

We did not find the most precious 4th of July outfits at Gymboree on Saturday. We did not buy 4 of the same thing so all the girl grandkids can look alike! Caroline did not love hers and put it on right away...she did not wear the hat the wrong way!

We did not make her pose for a picture so we could share the outfit with Leigh Ann and Anonymous!

She has not decided that purses are her new favorite things. She did not volunteer to carry both mine and my mom's purse into church. She does not have GREAT taste in purses.

I am not so tired right now! I do not need about a week of sleep.

I am not wondering what you have not been doing!

Birthday Time!!!

Today is Tuesday.

Usually that is nothing special.

But today it is someone's birthday around here....and we are going to celebrate! Because I am all about celebrating a birthday complete with cake and ice cream and presents and such!

It is not MY is not the kids' birthdays!

It is Mark's birthday. He does not like birthdays anymore. He says he is too old to celebrate. He does not want to draw attention to the fact that his hair is thinning (love you, babe) and he feels over the hill. He is NOT over the hill, but one thing I think you should know about Mark is that he tends to take the more pessimistic viewpoint on life. But not just your typical, "glass is half empty" kinda guy...he is more the "glass is half empty and leaking from the bottom" kind of guy! :) So birthdays are not a time that he finds the joy in getting older. That is what we, his family, are here for! He made me laugh back in September when I made a video for my dad's birthday and for my brother's birthday (my brother's video was just so I could show that picture of him with a medical glove on his head that he blew up with his nose) when he said, "You have never made a video for ME!" I smiled, knowing I would most definitely make him one for today!

We love him and are so thankful for him. He is a hard worker and he works even harder to make his kids laugh and squeal with delight as he plays with them.

He is a great husband and father and we are so glad that #* years ago today he came into this world so he could light up our lives every day.

I am so glad that I can call him mine!

Baseball and T-ball did not come to an absolute abrupt halt on Saturday. I do not feel like baseball isn't really over since I did not (really, I did not) see Will's games at all. I was not watching Caroline's last T-ball game and then attending her party. I do not have an insane amount of pictures to go with that statement (the great looking pictures are not mine...really...the cloudy ones are mine from my phone...just a disclaimer!).

My sweet pastor and his wonderful wife did not come to see the last T-ball game. They are not awesome like that. My pastor did not end up holding a 6 week old baby. I did not snap a picture of it.

I was not looking through pictures earlier today and did not notice that there is a picture of the pastor with my daughter when she was a baby. I did not notice it right away because he is not wearing the same shirt! :) I do not think that maybe we should get him a new shirt to wear when holding babies in the church! :)

That cute little baby girl in that picture up there did not tell me when we got home from the ball park that she wanted to kiss me before I got out of the car and she most certainly did not add "but I don't want to marry you!" I most certainly do NOT have any idea where that came from.

I am not starting my LAST week of school (with students) and I am not counting down the days. I am not so ready for the summer and the down time that comes with it.

I am not wondering what you have NOT been up to!!!

Field Day....enough said!

I only have 4.5 more work days (with kids) and I am not sure I have enough time to get everything done. Stress does not begin to describe the past weeks--and yet I am sad to let this class go. They have been a very good group of kids. They are funny, smart and very easy to be around. I will miss this group of kids.

Before I can miss them, though, we had to get through field day. Field Day = exhaustion! And we didn't even do all of field day. We have to finish it up on Monday, due to rain they expected but it never came (isn't that always the case?)!

Since I think I might could possibly get in trouble for posting pictures of the kids in my class, I will show you some of the great parents I have this year and then some of Will's field day! I am almost asleep right now so if it seems like an incomplete probably is.

This is my sweet friend Leeann who volunteered to get in the dunking booth for us so we
could earn extra points. She is pondering her decision.

She did not think anyone would knock her in...

But she was wrong! And cold. And amazingly talented to not get her hair wet.

This is the mother of a different child showing us her Monkey face! I laughed so hard!

This is the other parent who got in the dunking booth for us. He swept
in and saved the day when the dad who was supposed to do it wimped
out (he canceled last minute). This is the face I got when I asked him
to go into the ice tank!

He was a GREAT sport...taunting the kids, making them mad enough to throw hard
enough to "just miss" and making another parent say, "He is like a clown at the fair."

I finally let a child push the button to knock him in.

Now onto Will's day...

Will was the jousting champ and was not a bit excited about it.

He did a little sidewalk chalk drawing. He looks like he is out there
all alone, but there were about 200 other children with him, they just
couldn't fit in the picture.

My class did not have this part of field day, so I am really not sure
why he is dressed like a dragon.

And then as a cowboy/old man/Amish child.

And now, we have to get ready for a full day of ... bet you can't guess ... BASEBALL! All games are now starting at the same time and the baseball tournament will overlap the Tball party and decisions have to be made.

But I am too tired to make those decisions now.

Happy Anniversary My Love!

I cannot believe that 14 years ago I got married. It does not seem like I am old enough to have been married for 14 years! But, alas, I am!

On May 14, 1996 I married the perfect man for me. God had us chosen for each other a long time before we ever knew the other one existed! He knew what He was doing when He put us together...and He made sure we knew it was Him by the way He brought us into the other one's life!
I was SO excited to marry this man!!!!

And this was the cake we cut! Each layer was a different flavor. Mark was going to smear it on my face and decided at the last minute not to. He hesitated slightly when he went to put the cake in my mouth and this hesitation led a guest at the reception to say, "Surely you didn't miss her mouth, did you, Mark?" Nice!
This is the traditional picture with the parents...My dad joked that day that while the photographer and the guests were all running after me and Mark, the only people chasing him were the bill collectors! :)

Right before it was time to walk down the aisle, my dad turned to me and said, "Are you sure you want to do this? Because if you have a doubt, walk away now." He wasn't saying it because he thought I was making the wrong decision, he was making sure I KNEW it was the right one. I told him I had no doubts! So he kissed me and we headed down the aisle...and the whole time down the aisle, he kept saying, "Smile and take baby steps!"
I think this must have been when Mark said his wedding present to me was that he had finalized our budget. And I was saying, "HA! Good joke!" And he wasn't joking...and I started looking for my dad....Just Kidding. Mark was so glad the ceremony was over and he was probably trying to talk me out of making him dance at the reception(because he asked me a million times that day between the time we were "man and wife" and the time we actually danced)!
We did dance though...and Mark survived with a smile on his face!

I love you, babe! Happy Anniversary!

Not Me Monday and Birthday!

Welcome to Not Me! Monday! This blog carnival was created by MckMama. She is the mother to four and another on the way and she makes me laugh and truly contemplate some pretty deep issues. Head over to her blog to read what she and her husband and precious children have been up to this week!!

I totally did not spend more hours at the ball field last week than I did sleeping. I did not have conflicts in my schedule where both kids played at the same time in two different places. I did not have to send Will with his coach to his game Friday night and his coach did not tell him that we love Caroline more because we went to her game instead of his! LOL! I would never send Will to a game with someone so cruel (he really is a great coach...!)

I did not have to wake Mark up at midnight Saturday night/Sunday morning to cry and sob and be so mad at an email I got. I did not bend his very tired ear for 30 straight minutes explaining the very confusing situation to him. He did not totally support me and defend me and then tell me to go back to sleep. He was not snoring within half a second of me calming down! I would never check my email at almost midnight and then wake someone up to discuss it!

I did not lecture my kids on Sunday about how ungrateful they are and how they need to appreciate the fact that they get to do almost everything they ask to do and how I am the one who usually drives them to and from that event! I would never do that to my seven and four year old!

And finally...I do not have a brother-in-law who turns 40 today! He is not that old, for sure because I totally don't remember seeing him play for the regional basketball championship at our local high school and when they lost he surely did not curl up in the fetal position and cry in the middle of the basketball court. That could not have been that long ago that he is already the big FOUR-OH!!!!!
I am not laughing so hard at this picture...he does not look like an old lady in his daughter's pink hat!!!

You do not run an awesome basketball camp and we will not miss it this summer!

Hope you do not have a very Happy Birthday, HD!!!!!

Totally Random!

Wow! It has been a long time since I wrote. I am struggling this week. Lots going on with work (only 10 days left, but who's counting), lots and lots of baseball and tball and absolutely NO home cooked meals!

Caroline said the other day that we are never home! Truer words have not been spoken from her! She also said to me while we were leaving the ball park that she had seen a "colorish" car. I asked her what "colorish" it was. She said yellow and green. Then she asked me if that means it was colorish? I said that I thought it did mean that. Don't you?

I had two huge reports due at school and I worked on them for a long time and after submitting them once, was told I needed to redo them and submit again. So I did. On Thursday. Then I read last night on my email that they still are not worthy of being called finished and so I must do them again. I am rebelling currently because, quite frankly, I have no idea how to make it any better or any different.

I think God picked out the song sung in church this morning just for was all about making it through the storm.

Then he got me with the sermon...I love how He does that. Even if it hurts.

I have to go now...we are off running about all over creation.

Have a great day!

Photo Overload

I have not shared photos in a while and thought I would give you more than you could ever ask for.

Will's ball team had a tournament on Saturday and we spent the day at the ball field for four games. Instead of going home in between games, we hung out and grilled hotdogs and let the ducks chase the kids.

Yes, I typed that correctly. The ducks totally chased the kids. And it was hilarious!

That white duck had it out for Will. Will must have been talking trash or something because that duck was hot. He would waddle after Will, stop and let Will think he was in the clear and then charge him again. He never caught Will but he did get a hold of the pant leg of one of the boys on the team. Both duck and boy were so surprised that neither knew what to do. And I, of course, did not have my camera.

Caroline, trying to talk to the ducks, fell in the pond. Luckily, it was not where it was deep. She is definitely no "Duck Whisperer." She quickly crawled out before, according to her, "those mean ole ducks ate her up!"

Will looks like he is running for his life...the white duck was not chasing him because he is clearly floating in the water right in front of him. He must have made some other kind of wildlife upset!!!

This is one of our many food tents. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and by letting the kids hang out all day long not one of them asked if someone could go home with them or spend the night. It was glorious!

These are the only game pictures I took. We lost this game 11-0 and so the coach banned all cameras (because it was the only thing different from game one to game two). Will draws a line in the sand each time up to bat and this is him, marking his territory!
Ready and paying attention...
Foul tip!
He hit the ball but did not run fast enough to beat the ball to first. This is his, "I wasn't out, because the guy's foot was not on the bag" face. Isn't he precious?

Caroline just told Mark he was "boy pretty". HAHA! Love the way her brain works. Mark was kidding with her and said, "Watch out or I'll slap you into the middle of next week." He was joking...but she didn't realize it so she said, "Oh yeah. Well, I'll just slap you on the middle of the leg...right now!" And she did! :) Will did not want to be outdone so he came zooming down the hall yelling, "You mess with my sister, you mess with me!" (he did not realize Caroline was taking Mark out) Onto the pile he climbed and the wrestling continued.

Will popped up out of the wrestling ring with a very serious look on his face. He told me he was going to start being nicer to Caroline because if Mark and I die, she is all he'd have left. Hmmm. Ok. Not sure how to respond to that one.

They are still pretty cute...even if I have no idea where they come up with the stuff they say!
