He Is Risen!

Today is the glorious day that Jesus shows just how great and mighty He is by conquering the grave and becoming our risen Savior!

Happy Easter to you all. May the power of the resurrection live in you today and everyday. I will leave you with a poem God gave me last year on Easter. I hope it blesses you!

Easter

He rode victorious, He smiled and He waved.
He knew He’d soon become the one who had to save.
He healed the folks, He touched their hearts.
He did it all knowing they soon would have to part
.
He ate with friends, He spoke of the coming time.
He said one would betray Him and a kiss would be the sign.
He prayed all night to His Father, for the cup to pass Him by.
Knowing full it would not, knowing full the reason why.

He was captured, tried, found guilty, He was mocked and He was scorned.
He was beaten so severely, He was crowned with a ring of thorns.
He was made to carry His own cross, He stumbled to that place.
His hands and feet nailed to the wood, His heart still full of grace.

He was stabbed, He was taunted, His pain He could not hide.
He was left upon that cruel cross, left until he died.
He was buried, He was gone, so the rulers thought that day.
He was finished, it was over and they went back to selfish ways.

BUT

Then the ground began to shake as the King came bursting through.
From the very pit of hell He rose to prove His words were true.
The rock could not hold Him and Death realized He’d not died.
The angels’ shouts of victory lit up the once dark and gloomy sky.

He is Risen, He’s Alive, He is the Conqueror, He is King.
He walks victoriously with us now providing our everything.
The ground could not contain the Love of a Father and a Son.
O, Praise God He is alive today-He is Risen and we have won!

Much Love,

For You and For Me

Today was a dark day.

It was the day that Jesus was nailed to the cross for you and for me.

It was the day that God had to turn His back on His Only Son because He took on our sin in order to open up Heaven to us. When He became our sin, God could not look at Him. His only Son, the one whom had never been sin, became sin for us and was momentarily separated from His Father.

It was the day that evil thought it had won, because Jesus' broken, bloody body died and was buried in a human tomb.

I am speechless when I think of all my Jesus endured for me today...and He didn't do it because "His Father told Him too". No, He did it because He loved us. You and me. Before we were ever a glimmer in our parent's eyes.

And that Love? It is still available to you today. Do you know why? Because on Sunday...He is going to burst forth from the grave and be our Risen Savior! Hallelujah!

I hope you are able to enjoy this Easter weekend remembering everything He did to give you eternal life.

He is calling...

In my desperate attempt to honor my Lord and Savior for His sacrifices made for me this week, it is not lost on me that this is the week my students are taking the state test---you know, the one! It's the one that says whether they go on to the next grade level---the one that says how well I taught them this year---the one that makes all us teachers so mad and all those students so nervous! And it falls during (and a little after) Holy Week! Coincidence? I think not.

Just like yesterday morning, when I was reading Jesus Calling (do you have this book? if you do not, you need to! Jesus Calling by Sarah Young), the first words for the day were, "Peace is my continual gift to you. It flows abundantly from My throne of grace." It goes on...and it is good, but I don't want to quote the whole thing...I brought it up to say that my God knew that peace would be lacking today at school with test stress surging through the roof and He reminded me that HE IS MY PEACE.

I love how He does that. He knows what I will need before I even experience it and He provides it ahead of time.

So remember...His peace is yours for the taking...as is His grace and mercy and love.

Jesus IS calling...can you hear Him?

Holy Week

This week in Jesus' life was a rough one, by my standards. He was arrested, jailed, beaten and left to die on a cruel cross for my sin and for yours. I do not know how many of you have seen the movie, The Passion of the Christ, but if you haven't, I highly recommend it. I do not think small children should see it, but the scenes that show every beating, stabbing and suffering He went through for us, I do believe every adult should see.

It is hard to watch. Mainly because I know that if it were ONLY for me, He still would have done it. But it wasn't just for me...it was for you too. Before we were EVER born, He chose to die for us. Isn't that amazing?

I think this picture from the movie says it all. The love, the pain, the hurt. He did it all for us.

I am going to challenge myself along with challenging you...this week, as you start to grumble or complain about something, stop. And think of all Jesus went through for you. Put whatever it is you are going through into eternal perspective and then determine if it is worthy of complaint.

I will be praying for you. Praying that this week you see Jesus more clearly than you ever have before.

Palm Sunday

Today is the day we celebrate Jesus' triumphant entry into Jerusalem. He is welcomed warmly by the same people who will cry out for His crucifixion. This week, however, they are shouting, "Hosanna! Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord." (John 12: 13)

Take time to ponder today that the King of Israel, the King of all kings, rode into town on donkey amid the praise and worship of "faithful" people, knowing full well that even those closest to Him would deny Him. He went on anyway, because He is Love. And He loved us so much that He followed His Father's plan.

He loves us still, just as deep, just as unconditionally today as He did that day in Jerusalem. I don't know about you but I stand amazed at a love like that--amazed and thankful.

He Is Coming!

The King is coming into our town, we must line the streets to see.

He is the Messiah, the only Son of God, the First and Last is He.

Grab your palm branch, make a line, welcome Him with rowdy cheers.

He is our Healer, our Friend, our Teacher, our Lord, the One who always hears.

He has made the blind to see again, and He had made the lame to walk.

He has raised a man up from the dead who now lives, and breathes and talks.

He has shown love, compassion, mercy and grace as He has traveled across our land.

He has the power to calm a raging storm with the wave of his outstretched hand.

He has walked on water, and healed someone who touched Him and in faith believed.

He is the Only man who has ever lived whom Satan could not deceive.

We must honor this man, with the respect He is due, for surely there is no other.

He is our Savior, our Master, Our Leader, the One who sticks closer than a brother.

He is coming, Hosanna! He is the one we must worship and adore!

Hosanna! Hosanna! Hosanna! Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!

Happy Anniversary to the Best Parents!!

Today is my parent's 44th Wedding Anniversary...well, actually today is their 44th Anniversary, their WEDDING anniversary is actually in June! :) They eloped (isn't that so romantic?) 44 years ago and then planned a great church wedding for June 17th. I am not sure who knows the whole story, but I do. And since I am the only one in my family with a blog, I thought I would write about it. :)

My parents met while my mom was teaching and my dad was stationed in NC with the Army. My mom was seriously dating a guy and he was ready to pop the question to her when one of her roommates asked her to go out on a blind date with a soldier. Dad was hooked right away, mom was slightly more cautious but she was smitten too! It was only 10 weeks later when they eloped...When you know-you know!! :)

My parents, regardless of when, how or why they got married are two of the greatest people I know. And in an age where divorce seems to be the norm, 44 years is quite an accomplishment. They have been a loving example of a Godly marriage for me, my sisters and my brother. I am so thankful that God chose them to be my parents!

Happy Anniversary y'all!

I love you!

As Quick as it Started, It is Gone...

So, as you are reading this, we are probably on the way home from a great Spring Break. It has been lots of driving...but worth it.

Saturday was busy!

We started out early to cheer Anonymous on in her 10 mile race. We were such a proud family! I think the race coordinators had to tell us to move back about 100...we were just so excited to see her come down the home stretch! I am so proud of her!

The girls were glad to get home from the cold race, so they could change into cool clothes and play dress up, put on make-up, wear cowboy boots, be sassy and have a blast!

I helped make the teeny-tiny footballs for the cupcakes...and Anonymous made the cake! She is so talented. I do NOT have the patience for this kinda thing!
Then it was on to the birthday party AT the North Carolina Spring Football Game. The kids sat in a box to watch the game, ate pizza and cake and got to tour the whole football facility as if they were a recruit! It was awesome. At the end of the tour, we walked down to the field and watched them miss a field goal!!!! It didn't matter--to see it from that vantage point was awesome!!!
I will NEVER be able to top this party for my kids...I hope by September that Will has forgotten all about this experience.

It was amazing though!

Phase One of Vacay is OVAH...

We have had such a great time at my parent's house!! When we are here we do things like:
  • play in the sand and surf at the beach
  • ride bikes
  • go for walks
  • look for alligators (from a distance)
  • ride in the back of trucks (just around the neighborhood)
  • get massages (0k, that is just me)
  • play with cousins
  • shop
  • laugh
  • eat
  • relax
So, with a heavy heart, we are leaving this today:
Thanks mom and dad for an AWESOME time!

And we are heading here:
(that is North Carolina)

While I love going to North Carolina...it does kinda feel like home to this Army Brat...this trip will be short and Anonymous will be working me to death. :) I have been told that tonight I am on cupcake duty (I can think of worse job assignments), Saturday I am a cheerleader for my sister who is running 10 miles (I think) and then I will be the birthday party assistant for my nephew's ninth birthday...at the North Carolina spring football game (Will should be happy--UNC is guaranteed a win and Caroline is praying for cheerleaders to watch)! Anyway, I am sure I will have lots of pictures...and if Anonymous gives me permission, I will even post some! :)

Until then, have an amazing Friday and just because I care about you: the third movie in the Narnia series comes out today! Hoping that makes the trip to NC a little more bearable.

Same Lesson, Different Day

So, remember this post from Saturday?

Well, my sister let me vent to her after everything that happened last week. She gave me sound advice to definitely take duct tape with me to work (kidding...I think...maybe she did). I stewed in my anger and self-pity a little over the weekend (ok, a lot) and then my sister sent me this from her small group meeting.

She said:
Laughed out loud when I read these words tonight...stinks that they are in the Bible. Made me think of me, primarily, but also of your current situation....

22 Flee the evil desires of youth and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart. 23 Don’t have anything to do with foolish and stupid arguments, because you know they produce quarrels. 24 And the Lord’s servant must not be quarrelsome but must be kind to everyone, able to teach, not resentful. 25 Opponents must be gently instructed, in the hope that God will grant them repentance leading them to a knowledge of the truth, 26 and that they will come to their senses and escape from the
trap of the devil, who has taken them captive to do his will.
(2Timothy 2:22-26)

I have to say I laughed out loud too...and I thought...wow...you couldn't have shown me that two weeks ago?!?!?!? But, in all reality, I probably would not have paid attention to it because it did not apply to me at that time.

BUT, I did get to apply it to my life this week when I could have engaged in a "stupid argument" but chose to stay quiet instead. God granted me the blessing of being able to walk away with my head held high and my mouth shut tight. Sure, I was mad several times during this conversation and I so wanted to say things back to the person accusing me of the most ridiculous things, but I did not. I remained calm (proof that God truly was in charge of this) and when it was over, I had no behavior to apologize for or words to take back (I got this advice from my sweet friend who is a pastor's wife and has learned over the years that the less you speak, the less you have to apologize). :) It worked well.

Staying quiet has its advantages. I plan on incorporating it more into my loud, talkative life.
