What I Wore Wednesday

Usually, Wednesdays are hard for me.  I just don't want to get out of bed.  But I do love Wednesdays for one reason---I get lots of fashion inspiration from the girls who link up with Lindsey!  Yeah!  That means that, yes, I am putting pictures of myself online.  I promise it is not because I am conceited...it is for accountability and great advice.   We link up with Lindsey and get GREAT ideas from each other.  Join us!

We are actually out of school this week and we have been SO busy...we left out right after school on Friday and headed to North Carolina.  Will had the opportunity to be a ball boy at the UNC-VA game on Saturday(that was big fun and I plan to blog about it sometime)...and then we had to turn around Sunday and come right back home because Will's All Star team won on Saturday (no one thought they would) and had a game on Monday!  Whew. I am tired all over again just typing all that!  Anyway, I would have better and more pics but my sister does NOT have a full length mirror in her house!!!!!!

A Note to Myself

Now that basketball season is over, I have reflected a little bit on the season.  I am a slow learner and I think that if the season started right back up again now, I might not really apply all that I have thought about. But here's to positive thinking!  :)

Dear Basketball Coach Paige,

They are only 9 and 10 years old.  They are not trying to impress college coaches or scouts.  No one is looking at you as a possible college coach.  Deep breaths might help you make it through the first five minutes-or until you realize how the game is going to go.  But even if those deep breaths don't help, remember:  THEY ARE 9 and 10!!!

No referee is perfect.  No referee is going to call the game exactly the way you want.  Busting a blood vessel trying to tell them how to do their job only makes you look ugly.  The fact that you made a drastic change in your behavior at Christmas was a great choice.  You never had to worry again about getting a technical foul or making a bad impression.  Those 9 and 10 year old boys were watching you and they saw you make that change!  That is important.

Practice really does matter!  I am not a fan of the long practices that Jill calls mainly because I am so tired by the end of the day.  But it DOES make a difference.  It does matter.  The kids made such great strides from the beginning of the season til the end.  And that couldn't have happened without practice!!!  Jill runs a tight ship....but she is the BEST coach.  You should always coach with her!
Lastly, you should learn the most important lesson from your team.  After they won the tournament championship by only 2, had been given their plaque and championship ring (ring pop!) and had their picture taken a thousand times, they were most excited about having an end of season party and all spending the night at Jill's house!  Lesson to be learned: it's always "just a game of basketball."

Sincerely,
Post Season Paige
(maybe you should consider taking next year off!!!!

Confessions of the Weekend

I have never been so excited about a confessions post than I am today!!!!!!!

We finished up the regular season last weekend with an 11-0 record.  We gave out regular season medals to the boys before our first game of the tournament.

When you finish the regular season undefeated, you tend to have a target on your back when the tournament starts.  And boy did we ever.  I think everyone cheered against us except our own fans!  But that is OK.  We won on Thursday night, then won again on Friday night to earn ourselves a spot in the championship game.  Now, technical fouls were called all over the place in these games but you will be proud to know that I dd not get even one...not even a warning!

Proud aren't you?  :)  I knew you would be!

But not nearly as proud as I am about the championship game.  We played a team that we only beat by one in the regular season.  Early on we were down 10-2 and we couldn't seem to get our game going.  Our shots weren't falling and we had sub-par defense happening!  It was NOT pretty.  It was so stressful to be one of the coaches!  We finally turned it on in the fourth quarter, chipped away at their lead and won by 2!!!!!

We are the champions!!!!! (my friend....)....SOOOO proud of these boys!!!!
Thanks for listening to my ramblings about these great boys the last few Mondays!  Who knows what next Monday's post will hold.

Happy Monday!
